Minister of State for Universities speaks

Davis Willetts MP, Secretary of State for Universities and Science went to Queen Mary yesterday to give the inaugural John Ramsden Memorial Lecture on ‘Liberal Conservatism’.

The talk caused some controversy. As John Rentoul commented, ‘it was strange after the flapdoodle all day over his musings about selling extra university places — “on a needs-blind basis” — to the highest bidder.’

Benedict Brogan, a recent guest at St James also commented, his thoughts can be found here.
